About dr. jellyfish

Dr. Jellyfish is the secret love child of Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher. He grew up on a tiny planet in the fifth dimension where, as a child, he raised alien ideas on a 300-acre farm inside a cosmic thimble. He has a passion for earth creatures, which often appear in his art. He refuses to be constrained to two dimensions in his art, as the laws of physics do not apply to him. He spends his days traveling to distant galaxies and parallel dimensions searching for inspiration. Dr. Jellyfish strives to change art and minds, one molecule at a time.

Local Artist Matthew Bunch

Matthew Bunch, the creator and owner of Dr. Jellyfish Studios was born and raised in Northfield, Minnesota. He started his art career at the Northfield Arts Guild at age three. After he had run through all the classes offered, he stayed on as an assistant to the teachers. He continued his art education into high school and, after exhausting all the art classes offered there, he was fortunate to be selected by St. Olaf College to take free art classes there during his senior year of high school. After high school, Matthew attended Waldorf College in Iowa, where he discovered a love of color through painting with oils. Feeling the need for new landscapes, he traveled to Montana for a change of environment. Soon Matthew discovered that music was an important part of his growth as an artist. He began to write songs and sing in different bands. He continued to perform as a singer when he returned to Minnesota. He also began to teach at the same Arts Guild where he had first embarked on his art journey, as well as giving private art lessons. It was when he discovered the incredible detail and vibrant colors he could achieve with colored pencils that Matthew found his true path. He continues to draw the things he dreams and imagines and sells his pieces at art shows.
